Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is the first woman Ayada Leads recruited to run for office. She represents MN District 5 which encompasses Minneapolis & surrounding suburbs.
Councilwoman Nadia Mohamed is the youngest elected official trained by Ayada Leads. She holds the At-Large B seat on the St. Louis Park City Council.

Ayada Leads is a Twin Cities-based non-profit organization that inspires African Diaspora women to participate meaningfully in the political and civic life. Using a community-based approach, we provide resources for women, especially New Americans, in order to run for office and become engaged in civic matters.

Ayada Political Campaign Training
Our Ayada Political Campaign Training Program is the the only candidate training program that is tailored specifically to Diaspora women. We are able to provide the tools needed to win an election and the skills required to lead as a public official.
Voter Education & Civic Literacy
Ayada Leads recognizes the various barriers New Americans face when trying to participate in political processes. That’s why we are dedicated to making the democratic process accessible and understandable through our outreach programs.
Future leaders in the making
Our youth are our future. Ayada Leads is committed to creating meaningful connections across generations. We created a mentorship program so that young people in their communities are set up for success and can dream bigger.
